Materials
The most common materials for cabinet furniture are the compressed wood particles board (CWP) and MDF.
Timber – This is the best quality material, but also the most expensive. Wood is characterized by high stability, diversity of shapes and universality. Furniture made of wood is distinguished by its design /style is usually classical/, the high cost and not very large color range. There is wooden furniture, which is of lower grade and cheaper than the WPB. There, the material /usually pine – tree/ is not allowed to dry well and after some time it warps and splits. If you have chosen this material, it is good to explore the nature of the tree and the manufacturer.
CWP – CWP is an abbreviation of compressed wood particles and constitutes ground wood waste, which is bonded with special resins, pressed and covered with laminate. This is the most commonly used material in the manufacture of furniture because it is well – known for its low cost, large variety of colors and veneers, easy handling. The weakness of CWP is in the fact that it does not allow relief processing /milling/ and in the faulty manufacture of this material, it remains lax from within, and hence affects the quality of the furniture. It's good for the production of panels to be German, Austrian, Slovak. Kant must be ABS /PVC/ and smooth at the edges, and the edges of the panels to not be chipped and broken.
MDF – This is a material of finely ground, heavily pressed wood particles. Its abbreviation is English – medium density fiberboard. The MDF material is softer than the CWP, but has more technical characteristics such as bending, milling, moisture resistance. It is a relatively expensive material, so that is mainly used for the front of the furniture or as a decorative element. It is widely used in the manufacture of kitchen, bedroom and children's furniture. Depending on its processing, MDF is divided into three types: MDF profile – The so-called AGT profiles are extruded tapes, which are laminated /or with melamine foil/ in different forms /see cart./. From these profiles a door frame is made, and the filling inside can also be made of MDF or CWP.
Veneered MDF – A board covered with a natural veneer of wood and then varnished. Looks like wood and would hardly make difference between solid wood and veneered MDF, but its good vision and treatment depends on the quality of MDF, and the varnish.
Lacquered MDF – Constitutes a crude MDF, which is lacquered with special coatings, as its processing is difficult and precise. It has a higher moisture resistance as the varnish seals the MDF. Because of these facts, it is expensive as material. The color range is unlimited, but can also be seen in gloss, matte and satin. Easy to maintain, but one must be careful to avoid violent blow and to not be cleansed with abrasive products.
There is another option for the front part of the furniture – the so called „half – solid“. The frame is made of natural wood, usually beech, oak, cherry etc., and the inner plate of MDF with natural veneer. This is a very felicitous option to achieve a reasonable price and high quality. It is moisture – resistant and gives the furniture a classic and versatile design.
